Where the dead have unfinished business, and the detective doesn’t believe a word of it. At first.

~ Jo ~

For years, I made a decent living pretending to talk to dead people. Candles, soft music, a lot of meaningful nodding. I’m Joanna Webber, and I was a fake medium. A pretty good one, too.

Then the real dead people started showing up.

Here’s what nobody tells you about ghosts. They don’t float. They don’t moan. They don’t rattle chains. They look just like you and me, and the only way I can tell somebody’s dead is that they can’t touch anything. I once had a whole conversation with a man in my kitchen before I noticed he hadn’t picked up the coffee I poured him. Awkward.

I had the gift as a little girl, and I worked very hard to shut it off. It came back anyway, and it brought company. I can’t summon spirits, and I can’t send them away. They find me. And they won’t leave until I prove their “accident” was murder.

So now I hold my phone to my ear in the grocery store so folks think I’m on a call and not arguing with thin air. My assistant Micah calls me Boss, my mother calls me Joanna Lynn when I’m in trouble, and my baby girl, Oakley, was always going to yell “Dead guy!” in public eventually. (She did.)

Then there’s Detective Clint Hartley. He thought I was a fraud. To be fair, he wasn’t completely wrong. At first.

~ Clint ~

For the record, I don’t believe in ghosts.

Didn’t.

Okay. I’m working on it.

What I believe in is evidence. Tox reports. Warrants. Motive. Then Joanna Webber walked into my investigation and told me things about my victim she had no way of knowing. Things that turned out to be true.

I’d like to say I’m the one keeping her out of trouble. I’m not. She gets kidnapped. A lot. She promises to stay out of my cases with her fingers crossed behind her back. I see that, by the way.

But she’s right more often than I’d like to admit, and she has the biggest heart in Creekview. Somewhere along the way, she and that baby girl became my girls.

And I’ll always come get her. Every single time.

Perfect for readers who love:

- A funny, big-hearted heroine who talks to the dead (and sometimes argues with them)
- A skeptical detective who falls for the one woman he can’t explain
- Ghosts who feel like real people, with hauntings that are cozy, not creepy
- Small-town Texas charm, found family, and clean, warm mysteries
- A complete six-book series with a happily ever after, ready to binge

Pour yourself a sweet tea, and if you see me talking to nobody in the cereal aisle, just wave. Start with Premedicated Murder, and take them in order. The dead are patient. Readers, not so much.
